on historic North Palm Canyon Drive

Welcome to the Desert Art Center

The Desert Art Center, which was established in 1950 and the oldest art organization in the Coachella Valley, is a non-profit group whose purpose is to promote art in the community and provide scholarships to Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Cathedral City High School seniors.  Our building is the first school in Palm Springs and we’re located next to the Palm Canyon Theatre and Francis Stevens Park.

The co-op now has over 140 artist members many of whom display their artwork and are nationally known. Paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels and other media in addition to prints, sculptures, ceramics, glasswork, bronze, photography and art cards are all on sale at reasonable prices.

In addition to our bi-monthly gallery openings and scholarships  the gallery space is offered to other non-profit or fundraising groups and civic activities. We are available for day or evening events and previews for new local artists and there is plenty of on and off street parking.

The Desert Art Center offers classes 6 days a week in Oils, Plein Air, Watercolors, Sculpture, China Painting, Stained Glass and Life drawing. Our teachers are widely known and class size is limited so reservations are necessary.

Please join the Desert Art Center and support our efforts to preserve this community endeavor and beautiful space for our local artists to promote their work. All dues and contributions are tax deductible.
